Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a leading engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India, is inviting applications for the recruitment of 50 welders on a fixed tenure basis. Job Details and Requirements:

Position: Welder (Fixed Tenure Basis)
Total Vacancies: 50
Tenure: Initial tenure of 24 months, extendable up to 12 months based on performance and project requirements.
Location: BHEL project sites across India. Initial training and stationing will be at BHEL FSIP, Jagdishpur Unit.

Responsibilities:

Selected candidates will be responsible for various welding tasks as per the requirements of BHEL project sites. Key duties include:

  1. High-Precision Welding: Perform welding tasks on power plant equipment and piping, following safety and technical guidelines.
  2. Work at Heights: Conduct welding activities at heights up to 100 meters, adhering to safety protocols.
  3. Material Preparation: Align structures and fit components based on technical drawings.
  4. Welding Operations: Operate welding equipment efficiently in various site conditions.
  5. Electrode Handling: Select and use appropriate welding electrodes for tasks.
  6. Visual Inspection: Inspect welded surfaces and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  7. Repair and Maintenance: Carry out maintenance on thermal power equipment and piping.
  8. Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  9. Documentation: Maintain records of welding processes and inspections.

Eligibility Criteria:

QualificationRequirement
Educational QualificationITI (National Trade Certificate) in Welder Trade with National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC).
Work ExperienceMinimum 2 years of welding experience post-NAC (excluding trainee/apprenticeship period).
IBR CertificationWelders with valid IBR Certification may also apply.
Minimum Marks Required60% in both ITI and NAC for UR/OBC/EWS; 55% for SC/ST candidates.

Age Limit:

  • Upper Age Limit: 30 years as of 01.10.2024.
  • Age Relaxation:
    • 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)
    • 5 years for SC/ST candidates
    • Additional 5 years for candidates from J&K during 01.01.1980 – 31.12.1989
    • As per government rules for ex-servicemen.

Note: Reservations for ex-servicemen will be on a horizontal basis and adjusted within the categories.

Compensation and Benefits:

  1. Training Compensation: ₹15,000 per month for up to 3 months during IBR training.
  2. Fixed Tenure Compensation: ₹42,500 per month after training.
  3. Incentives:
    • Quality Incentive up to ₹10,000 per month based on the defect-free welding percentage.
    • Productivity Incentive for welding joints exceeding the benchmark (rates vary per joint).
  4. Medical Benefits: Reimbursement for Mediclaim policy premium of ₹5 lakhs.
  5. Travel Allowance: Sleeper class train fare for joining.

Selection Process:

  • Screening: Applications will be screened based on educational qualifications and work experience. Candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio for the skill test.
  • Skill Test: Conducted at a designated location, requiring candidates to stay for 3-4 days. Reimbursement for travel expenses will be provided.

Candidates scoring the same cut-off marks will be shortlisted based on age preference.

Medical Standards:

Candidates must be medically fit as per BHEL’s prescribed standards. Shortlisted candidates without IBR certification will undergo training for IBR certification.

Service Agreement Bond:

  • For Trainees: Service agreement bond of ₹4 lakhs for a 3-year tenure.
  • For IBR Certified Welders: Bond of ₹3 lakhs for a 3-year tenure.
